User-centred design of civic collaboration tools

At Newcastle University, Sebastian designed and delivered a module on the user-centred design of open applications for civic engagement. Module participants team up to tackle a challenge provided by external clients from local government, business, or community groups. The module draws together application cases within urban planning, user research methods and rapid prototyping techniques. In its delivery, it takes inspiration from startups accelerators, especially the design sprint method. Participants learn to validate project ideas through user research and prototyping.
